Shinjuku miracle

Went to Shinjuku, which is a large shopping area. The size of the place is rather daunting... large exclaiming neon lights from street to sky. Posters of promotions and deals on every allowable surface, hundreds of people handing out ads, most in the form of travel sized Kleenex packets. I've refrained from accepting those, only in times of a snotty nose has my constitution slipped. Luckily I am not a frequent subscriber of snotty noses.

From the top of a gigantic shopping mall, on a scenic lookout, Adam and I peared around the area and much to our surprise, not far from the train station was a humongous and majestic park... we had to investigate.

Turns out there is a nationally treasured park boasting a rather signifigant set of shrines there. who knew.

Seriously, when you're standing there amoungst such a towering portion of bussling city, crowded by noise, pachinko and often times an ominous stench, a park of that size being just a stones throw away seems impossible. A few images of said park perhaps...!

the guy above was actually napping on the grass... on his lunch break. he awoke, and he was just so darn cute, Adam just HAD to catch it on film. Or... memory card.

  • Good to see you Adam!!! How's Japan?

Love the park! Only in Tokyo can you find such wonders as a huge park with temples or melon slices on sticks being sold like "street meat". And oh the smells! I hope you don't find a smell-recorder over there...
